Departing Inverness Marina, we head out under the Kessock Bridge into the moray Firth,
keeping a watchful eye for the resident dolphins as we go. Passing Chanonry point we
have a chance to admire Fort George, quoted as being the finest piece of 18th century
military engineering in the UK. Moving onto the the Seabird colony at the Sutors of
Cromarty, where we may see Shag, Razorbill, Gulliemot, Black Gulliemot, Gannets and
Puffins, not to mention the substantial Gun placements sited to protect and defend the Naval
anchorages in the Firth.
A short stop at the 18th century town of Cromarty and an
opportunity to grab a refreshment and stretch your legs, before we get back on the water
possibly passing the odd Oil Rig or Cruise liner as we depart.
Returning to Inverness we pass by Castle Stuart golf course, home to the “Scottish Open” and the Black Isle home to several Red Kites!
