• How powerful is the Rib?
Our Ribs are powered by a single 250 hp 4 stroke Suzuki engine, along with the Ribcraft Hull design this offers breathtaking speed (+50 mph) with a fantastic, safe handling ability.
• What should I wear or bring with me?
Wet weather gear and a few extra layers is a must, can get a little chilly out on the water. Training shoes which you don’t mind getting a little wet, absolutely no heel please! Motion sickness tablets if you are susceptible. (Please ensure you take any sickness prevention tablet as per the instructions, usually several hours before you travel)
Please also bear in mind the strength of the sun especially over water, ensure sunscreen is applied and wear sunglasses. If you plan to wear a hat, ensure it has a tie or is tight fitting.
• Can we bring children or pets on our charter?
Children are always most welcome, we have a full range of lifejackets for children from toddlers up.
Not so good news for the pets I’m afraid, not permitted on charters.
• Can we drive the boat?
Yes you can! We always encourage our guests to get involved, it all adds to the excitement of the day.
Our skippers are all commercially qualified to advanced powerboat level at the very minimum and are always willing to share their knowledge.
• Where can we go?
That all depends on what you want to achieve, the weather, fuel, budget etc.
We have 225ltr fuel tanks on board, capable of over 300 miles. Highland Ribs are also fully mobile and able to launch from hundreds of locations throughout Scotland, the choice is yours!
• Will we see any wildlife?
All depends on the location, weather and a little luck! Nothing guaranteed I’m afraid but chances are you will see some wildlife...anything from Gannets, Gulls and Puffins to Seals, Dolphins and Whales maybe spotted in Scottish waters.
• What If the weather turns nasty?
Safety is always absolutely paramount and so If the need arises to cancel due to bad weather Highland Ribs will always endeavor to offer an alternative date or issue a full refund.
• How many people can the boat take?
Our Rib’s are MCA coded for 10. However If speed and comfort is important we recommend a max of 7 guests.
